I'm looking at maybe splitting up my business and parting it out. I've been trying for like a year to find a buyer and have not found one. I'm sad for that. I have lived a wonderful life doing it. Doing it out of my house. IMO it is not hard to do my business. I will be there to help whom ever buys it as long as I am still alive. I also want to continue to develop new products. So I'm wondering if any are interested in taking over some of my product line.
What I have seen in the last year: More than a few mechanical engineers that have no fabrication or machining experience. Some small companies like machine shops where the owners says one of his employees can do it. If that employee quits now what do you do? The owner has to be able to do it all and know everything. Several that do not have enough space. Several that do not have the financial ability. More that a few that are not willing to quit their job and take the risk. I know that is hard to do. So little risk. Every year my sales increase. Even if one takes out a loan you would still have a nice income after making a monthly loan payment.
It is a full time venture. But working out of my house it has always felt like a part time job. One needs to be a good fabricator and have some machining ability. Some basic mechanical engineering ability. Some parts I make from scratch. Some I have made and just need to keep in stock. Some I have the pieces made and I assemble, weld etc in my shop. My shop is in a 2 car garage. Half of my 4 car detached garage. My whole (fairly large) basement is warehouse and shipping. I use one small bedroom for my office. Plus I rent a 10x20 storage unit. Some stuff is in my attic. Would take the right person to take it over. You have to naturally be a hard worker. One could rent a commercial space and run it out of that. ------------------ Rodney Dickman

You are such an asset to the Fiero community, Rodney. I truly hope you find somebody just as passionate to take the reins.

x2. We hope that even though your retirement will clearly be "an end of an era", we hope that someone will be able to step in and continue your business.

There are certain parts that Rodey sells that are unavailable elsewhere. For instance when rebuilding the Gen 1 headlight motors, the only place that I could find new motor brushes was with Rodney Dickman. He also supplies the bushing to rebuild the steering rack and the unique tool to remove the screw holding the dew wipes. Rodney supplies so many good things for the Fiero that I hope that he can make a deal with the Fiero Store. ------------------ " THE BLACK PARALYZER" -87GT 3800SC Series III engine, custom ZZP /Frozen Boost Intercooler setup, 3.4" Pulley, Northstar TB, LS1 MAF, 3" Spintech/Hedman Exhaust, P-log Manifold, Autolite 104's, MSD wires, Custom CAI, 4T65eHD w. custom axles, Champion Radiator, S10 Brake Booster, HP Tuners VCM Suite. Post current inventory as it might lead to clearance.
