After lurking around here for almost a year, I thought I would introduce myself and my Fiero. Last November I dragged an 86 base out of a guy’s ex girlfriend’s backyard out in the middle of nowhere. It involved lots of colorful language and a visit by the local police. (My wife says I take her to all the best places).
I’m gonna use this thread to help keep track of everything I’ve done to it since it followed me home, so here goes:
Started out with a new battery and alternator to get it cranking Dropped the tank to clean and line it and install a new fuel pump. That got the engine running (after giving the throttle body a good smack to unstick the injector) New tires, calipers, rotors, brake hoses, master cylinder and brake line got it rolling and stopping New shocks and struts. (KYBs that came with the car) Replace the all the interior lights and high mount brake light with LEDs
I’ve been daily driving it for the past month and other that running it out of gas due to an inaccurate gas gauge, it’s been doing great
Current project is replacing the inner and out dew wipes. Repainting the mirror and lubing the window regulators while I have to doors apart.[This message has been edited by Ncfiero (edited 11-29-2022).]

Welcome to the fun! Poster profiles sometimes provide clues to the owner's 'car guy' skills. Looks like you're well prepared, lol!

Welcome to our obsession! That's a nice "survivor". Nicely done!
And yeah... "sucking wind" at 1/4 tank indicated is pretty normal. The good news is that it can be fixed by disassembling, cleaning, and recalibrating the sender. 0 ohms empty, and 90 ohms full. But you probably already knew that. Just so much fun to drop the tank.

This one’s way out of wack, ran out at 1/2. Think I’ll just get a new sending unit assembly the next time I drop the tank out. The one that’s in it is rather crusty and I had to piece together with parts from another one.
