Hello All,
Does anyone have any production data that would indicate how many cars were produced with the following specs?
1988 GT, Yellow, 5 speed, sunroof.
I am considering purchasing a car with these specs and was wondering how many others were built. Also, how many may still exist?
Thank you for any assistance.

I think yellow was the 2nd most uncommon color for an 88 GT. I think silver was the least common. I have a book around here someplace that breaks it all down, but I need to find it.

Weren't there something like 240 yellow 88 GTs made? You could break that down even further and assume maybe 1/2 were 5-speeds or 2/3 of them might have had a sunroof....

All I can say, not many. Robert Casey’s Fiero book is a huge asset to this info. I am really surprised how the info in his book is unbelievable. So much valuable info for the Fiero enthusiast. Some Fiero stuff I didn’t even know after over 25 years in the Fiero hobby. I even bought the corvette C6 and C7 book. It’s that good!! This guy did a really good job!! As for the yellow 88 GT, 5 speed, sunroof combination, how about the interior? Leather or cloth, or lumbar option, A/C? Those are key options that need to addressed. Remember, all yellow GTs only had grey interior. And black wheels. Just like Silver, only black wheels and grey interior was offered. Who would want a beechwood interior for yellow or silver? It just doesn’t make sense.

Mileage? Condition? Area spending its time in? Rust? Options? Lots goes into an evaluation. Perhaps a few more details and pics and we can help get you in the ballpark on an honest value.

I would verify that it is a factory yellow on the CPO sticker.
Wouldn't surprise me for someone to repaint the car to claim it was a low production unit (although not sure it really makes that much of a difference for the Fiero).

Hello All,
Thank you for your comments and information. Just to be clear, I am not trying to establish a value on the car as I have already made the deal at a favorable price. I am waiting for the current owner to send me the VIN and the option tag data. What I do know is that it has a cloth interior, is a California car, and has not been in the Midwestern salty winters. A nearby Fiero guy who owned the car for a short period said the underside was one of the best he had ever seen.
The history that I have is that it was purchased in CA about 15 years ago, brought to the Midwest by an engineer who removed the engine to put in an electric motor. It reposed in his garage for about 12 years until my contact (Mechanical Engineer, owner of several Fieros) purchased it, did some mild work on the engine, and reinstalled it. The current owner bought it and has had it in storage for about three years.
I drove the car in September, it is peppy and shifts well. It does have a few needs, none of which will hamper driving it while they are corrected. The headliner needs replacing, the steering wheel needs restoration or replacing, there is mild delaminating on one corner for the frunk lid, and some body panels need paint matching. It will not be a factory restoration as the side intake panels and the taillamp panel have been replaced by aftermarket units and I do not have a problem with the look of those pieces. I am also planning replacement wheels as I have never been a fan of those basketweave designs - too hard to keep clean!
