Thought I would post my fiero project up as it should be a not so common swap. 1984 Standard edition 86’ V6 4 Speed muncie getting a 1980’s 4.3L. A little history on the engine, My dad used to race in a Series called ASA, One step down from nascar and they had a grand national class that ran a 4.3L. Long story short My dad had this motor sitting in the corner for over 30 years, and well sitting it is no more. The engine had only 5 Races on it so there was life to be had. I completely disassembled it and refreshed it while i was there. Was able to use the original ancient TRW Pistons and pretty much all other components were reusable. Did a complete port and polish job head and intake as this motor was equipped with aluminum 23 degree Bow tie Heads and a Cross Over ram intake that you were unallowed to port per ASA rules. Went ahead and used the original Over the Top headers my Dad had for his race car. Of course they didn’t Fit so had to customize As it sit right now motor should make 300 HP to crank no problem and probably we’ll over 350 torque, Should be a blast

Very nice. I'd love to hear this run. Maybe post a Youtube vid when you're done?

Depending on cam choice and compression, 300hp MAY be a bit conservative! Our 4.5L version, still with 23 degree heads and the Brodix-Pontiac intake makes ~450. I am guessing it is the odd fire motor?

Even Fire 🔥, 300 hp was what GM rated this configuration at back then, But I don’t know either. But you telling me that excites me a little lol, but yeah it’s 10.5:1 Flat tops with a 2.020 intake and 1.6 exhaust valve with a radius valve job, 3 angle valve back cut and all the little tricks porting and polish wise. cam side of things .525 solid flat tappet and i want to say like 220duration @050 with 104 lobe separation.

Welcome to the forum!
Awesome stuff like this is why Forums will always be better than "social media platforms".
This looks really wicked. Since there isn't much air flow through the engine compartment, are you going to do anything to help sweep air up from under the car, or do JetHot or something like that on the headers?

Cool swap, it is good to see the 4.3s getting some attention again, it has been several years.
