Run For The Hills # 28 Sept. 22-25 (Page 1/3)
fierofool FEB 25, 02:18 PM
We are off and running and making plans for the 2023 version of our annual Run For The Hills. New Roads. New Scenery. Lots of lakes and streams and maybe even a water fall or two.

We are entertaining starting and ending in the area of Cornelia, Georgia. Rather than starting in one place and ending in another, you wll be able to leave your luggage at the hotel, therefore less weight to slow you down.

We are throwing in a little extra attraction this year. We have been in talks with an automobile museum to give our people a private tour on the evening of September 22. There is a nominal charge because the museum will be closed to the public at that time and will only be open to Run For The Hills participants. Friday night only at 6 PM is what we're discussing. Check into your room early.

This museum tour won't be a part of the Scouting Run that we will be making on April 15. We plan to meet at our host hotel, Hampton Inn in Cornelia, Georgia and depart at 9 AM on the 15th. This is just a one day junket. No overnight hotel stay. Come out and help us set the route. Much less structured on a scouting run than the day of the event.

You can let us know if you want to join in the scouting run by emailing us at GeorgiaFieroClub@Gmail.Com Subject: RFTH 28 Scouting Run

Correction: There's a typo in the title. Te event is Septeber 22-24, 2023.

The following info is also in the Events Section.
This is information for the main event in September, not for the scouting run in April

The 2023 Run For The Hills event will be based at the Hampton Inn, Cornelia, Ga. The address is 161 Market Corners, Cornelia, Ga. 30531

We have a block of 15 rooms. There are 13 King Rooms, two of which have pullout sofas. The other two rooms are handicap equipped Double Queen Rooms. When making your reservations, take the King Rooms first in the event we have an attendee that needs the handicap equipped rooms.

Check in time is 3 PM, September 22. Checkout time is 11 AM September 24. The room rate is $149 per night, plus $5 state transportation tax plus 15% hotel tax. All rooms are non-smoking. There is a $250 fine for anyone found to have smoked inside a room.

THE DEADLINE TO RESERVE YOUR ROOM IS AUGUST 23, 2023 SO DON'T DALLY

Please plan to arrive on Friday. We have arranged for a private tour of an automobile museum. Their normal admission fee is $10 but because this will be only for RFTH 28 attendees, it will be after hours. The entry fee will be $15. This is also an antique mall. The tour will take place Friday night, September 22 at 6 PM. Miles Through Time is the museum, located in Clarkesville, Ga.

We will lunch at The Grand Olde Station on Saturday and when we return to the hotel, we will have our evening dinner at Longhorn's Steak House. This was chosen in part because restaurants are very limited in this area, and also for anyone who wishes to have an adult beverage. Very close to the hotel.

Event Tshirts are still in the works. As soon as we have a final design, it will be posted in this thread. They may be ordered on the Georgia Fiero website at gafiero.org in the Club Merchandise section. Be sure to chose your size, quantity, and color shirt, offered in white or light gray 100% cotton.

To obtain the special room discount you can call the hotel directly at 706-778-0040. DO NOT USE THE RESERVATIONS OPTION NUMBER. IT GOES OFFSHORE. STAY ON THE LINE FOR THE FRONT DESK AND MAKE YOUR RESERVATION THROUGH THEM. Use Reservation Code GFC or Georgia Fiero Club. This is to assure that only our attendees take advantage of a very good discount rate. There are no quality alternate hotels close by. [/b]

Just a couple of pictures from the scouting run April 15th. There were far more opportunities for pictures but we were too engrossed in enjoying the roads and just looking at the passing scenery of all the streams, waterfalls and lakes.

The deadline for making your hotel reservations is just one month away. In order to take advantage of our discounted rate reservations must be made by August 23. Also, don't forget to order your event Tshirt.

Free bump, I just reserved my room, the 13 room block was sold out when I called but they still have availability in the rest of the hotel and they honored the group discount on a king bed. Run is looking good with the group block already sold out!

Btw how do I buy a shirt? The club website is down a lot am I supposed to do it there??

Try ordering again. I just received an order through the club website. And yes, PowWeb, our host keeps doing that to us. If you still can't place the order, message me.

If our block of 15 rooms is booked then we will have a decent group. I know some of our local people won't be coming in until Saturday morning for the run and returning home Saturday night.

Even if you don't come Friday to join in the automobile museum tour or stay for the Saturday evening dinner, we promise that if you like the twisties, you will love this event. 215 Miles with more twists and turns than a Nascar 500 mile road course race. But above all, there are all those great Fiero people.

Made my reservations this afternoon. (Yeah... I'm slow.)
They honored the club rate, even today, so that was cool, and unexpected.
Sounds like there are a couple of car clubs booking there. She called off several club names before I reminded her that I was with the GFC group.
