Does it? Rafe, good thing you included photos... because on this side of the Atlantic, nobody (well, hardly anyone) would know what the heck "wellies" are.

I've driven a lot in MK3 combat boots:
Also with Sorel winter boots:
Here, it's snowy/messy for about five months every year, so we wear boots outside during those months.
Driving and working the pedals with boots is a very normal thing!

Well of course i match the revs when I drive. I don't want to jerk the car around like I'm a 16-year-old learning to drive
I just recorded this video of me driving with the Sorel winter boots:
That's in my daily driver 2007 Ford Ranger.
The Fiero is currently out of service for some brake+suspension mods. Also, it's winter, so I don't want to drive the Fiero out in the corrosive snow+salt mixture.

I drive the same way when driving the Fiero, or any other car. I figured out how to blip the throttle during braking when I was learning to drive at age 16/17, which was a while ago...
Where I have trouble is with floor-hinged throttle pedals; I find them hard to use, because my heel hits too close to the hinge point, where the throttle needs a lot of force, and where small foot movements create large changes in throttle opening.
I've been disappointed with some otherwise good cars, because their floor-hinged pedals ruined the car for me.
