Well, I did it again. I purchased a 1986 SE coupe, from Mobile, Alabama sight unseen and had it shipped to my mechanic mate in the North Carolina. The price was unbelievably low for a documented 2-owner car with less than 60,000 miles. The car had been parked inside and covered for the last 10-years.
The car made it to my mate's shop and he says that other than a bad fuel pump, slightly sagging headliner, dry tires, and fading on the top of the spoiler, the car in great shape. Including shipping, I'm into it for less than $2000USD. It will be something to drive around when we visit the States later this year. We'll drive it to Charleston, SC to put it on the boat to bring it home to Oz.

There are still some good finds out there. But,for the most part it seems inflation has been creeping into Fiero pricing much like most other worldly items. Good job on your new to you Fiero.

A couple of guys here at Georgia Fieros was after it but you beat them to it. If you can, schedule your trip to the States for September 22-24 and join us for Run For The Hills # 28. Hotel information is here on PFF and on the Georgia Fieros website. We miss you Aussies since Proff Allen Clark and Julie stopped attending. Yep. I was fortunate to be first in. The P.O. and I had several conversations. I finally decided to buy it. I think I scored a deal.
Thanks for the invitation. September may be possible. We were "home" last year in late June - early July. Have to check with the wife but the timing may be around the shipping options.
When I shipped the other two over here, I loaded the boot, frunk, and inside with spares that are next to impossible to get over here. I don't think I can get the spare cradle inside, though but the extra brakes, struts, shocks and other bits and pieces will be coming down-under.

Wow! When he contacted us he didn't mention the spare parts. Even without them, the offering price was truly outstanding, even if it turned out to be a parts car. Hope you can schedule for RFTH. It's something you will really enjoy. You might even start your own RFTH down there. Putty Road out of Wilberforce looks like it would fit the bill to get started.
And when you get back, look up Allen Clark in Berambing in the Blue Mountains area. Ghost Hill Road. He's got two he's about put back on the road.

Sorry about the confusion...the spare parts are things that i've been collecting and storing in the barn at my folks home in NC.
You're right, the price was outstanding and I thought for a parts car how can you go wrong? But when I saw the pictures, I was amazed. I've now scored two low price cars but I think that's all there is because the prices are increasing. I got my black '86 GT from an ebay auction where I threw in a low bid before going to bed one night. (alcohol and the internet can be dangerous.) I woke up the next morning to find I had won it. The clearcoat was trashed - the owner had parked in in the back yard and covered it with a tarp - but everything else was in great shape. So now, I own three. My bride, bless her, doesn't say much but she can sure give me the look...
I know the Putty Road, well. I've ridden it a couple of times on the Sportster. It runs from Windsor to Singleton in the Hunter Valley wine country. It would be a good road to exercise the Fieros on.
We moved from Sydney about 6 years back to a place on the central tablelands west of the Blue Mountains, near Bathurst. Almost like living in NC, AL, or GA, again but without the humidity. Allen Clark in Berambing in the Blue Mountains is not far from where I live now - about 45 miles. If you can provide his details in a PM, I'll look him up. I drive by Ghost Hill Road about once every other week or so.
I've been toying with the idea of trying to set up a Fiero Rally. There are several around the Sydney Area, a few in Melbourne, a couple in Canberra and one or two in Brisbane that I know of. It would be cool to get a bunch together and make a week-end rally, especially with the 40th anniversery coming up.[This message has been edited by Mike in Sydney (edited 03-30-2023).]
