The forum in numbers, compared to 10 years ago (Page 1/3)

Yes, online forums have all but died due to social media. PFF is somewhat of an exception. Oh sure, the number of posts isn't anywhere near what it used to be like, say, 10 years ago. But exactly what are those numbers?

Let's start with 2022.

In 2022, 2,892 new threads were started and a total of 35,510 new messages were posted. That averages to 97 new messages per day. That is an higher average than 99.9% of all the forums out there. In fact, that's more than most forums averaged out to 10 years ago, when online forums were the thing.

But how does that compare to PFF in 2013? Well, here are the numbers for 2013:

In 2013, 16,026 new threads were started, and a total of 217,021 new messages were posted. That's an average of 594 new messages per day!

I wish I had ads back then... 😄

I remember those days of a bustling forum. I used to make a new thread in General Chat and later in the day, it was already on the 2nd page because so many new threads were being created. Now my thread sits on the first page for 19 days before being pushed to the 2nd page.

Hate to say it, but those were the days...

Thanx Cliff... Still the best online site for our little cars, bar none...

A programing forum where I was an admin that had millions of users lasted just over 10 years, it went offline last year. So I second this statement, thriving relative.

Thank you Cliff.

It seems we are now all spread out onto FB and other areas. I preferred when we all came here to our own little community and tons of folks helped each other.

That's actually really great news/info!

I do miss the old pre-social media times... the forum is SO much more functional for sharing & finding REAL information!

I remember this place was so active it was more like a chat site then a forum.

There's nothing wrong with people making use of multiple online experiences... but for anything Fiero related, this forum is still the place to be.

The political zealots used to defile more of PFF with their misguided ravings and personal attacks (if you dared to express an opposing point of view), but thankfully they're now mostly self-contained within their own pigpen.
