Not sure when it exactly happened but I know it wasn't there one day but it was the next. The only thing I can remember that might be related was that I parked the car at my house, walked away and suddenly heard a loud crack. I had no idea what it was so I really left it at that. Then the next morning while driving the car I noticed the crack in the window. At first it just reached the mirror mount but it has gotten bigger every day since.
I can only feel the crack on the outside, not the inside.
So is it dangerous driving around with a window like this? Is there anyway I can prevent it from getting bigger so I have some time trying to find a new windshield? Which BTW I suspect is going to be near impossible, just like I still haven't been able to find an exhaust here.

You should have called a glass shop Before driving when first shows up. Because there are ways to stop windshield crack.
Safe to drive w/ the crack now but will only get bigger and maybe fork too w/o glass stop stopping it.
But note Is likely to Fail Inspection or Cops stop you for crank on drive side of windshield at minimum. Depending on local rules/laws may Fail or Stop for any crack in windshield.
IOW Stop crack methods can work but any crack you still see on driver side may be Illegal. Is why you "call" glass shop for rocks hitting windshield causing bullseye or star breaks before they can spread.
Stopping long cracks is "easy" w/ right tools but sealing them to keep out water etc is way harder then fixing a stone bullseye. When Water etc get at plastic layer and "fog" that and then Fail Inspection if crack did Pass first time.------------------ Dr. Ian Malcolm: Yeah, but your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should. Salut Cliff! So that's a real shame! If you're not insured for glass breakage, you can get hold of a Fiero windscreen here to fit yourself (or have an independent trustworthy local garage/enthusiast do it for you): https://www.monparebrise.co...-pontiac-fiero-84-88
Well, at least I can get them in France. It should be the same for you?
It is quite expensive at 635€ ! (Gone up 100€ since I did mine a few years ago.)
Otherwise CARGLASS seems to be able to always get american windscreens, but it's not the same price! You can count more than double the price above!

I checked my insurance and fortunately I'm insured for windshield damage so I'll give them a call tomorrow. 😅😎
