Where to get a windshield? (Page 1/2) |

The Storm Trooper needs to have its windshield resealed. The current unit is also scored and pitted.
The local SafeLite can't get one. They said there's a manufacturer in CA that still carried it, but probably would not ship to the east coast. I'll call back and get the name from him.
Has anyone recently had a windshield replaced? What glass did you use?

I needed a replacement "cash & carry" for our race car (one of the (very) few factory parts that fit it) - called around the small independent glass shops and was able to get one for <$150 ( yes, they had to order it) Installation would have been extra, but they were still available.

Safelite local to me can get it. Around $335.00 installed and I have to take the car to them to be installed in their shop because the car is considered a "classic" (their words).
I have an appointment scheduled to have it done, but belive I'm gonna cancel and go to another local shop who says he has two sources and the cost is a little lower for either. Still have to take the car to them, but point is, they do seem to be available somewhere.
The place I'm probably going to switch to told me that if the first source pulls the glass from stock and it is not "perfect", i.e., scratched, cracked or pitted, then he will get it from the second warehouse he uses.
I think last time I had one done, it was like $125 installed, and they came to the house. That was Triumph Glass, but when I tried to contact them, I got Safelite, so I'm guessing Safelite bought them out.

The local safelites neat me pulled the “ we can’t get it” routine, they also said go to a junkyard. I called another local shop and two days later, I had a brand new windshield in my car.

I got my windshield from Kool Katz Auto Glass in Georgia. After I bought my first one I called up to see if they had anymore from the same manufacturer, they didn't at the time. They were really great to work with.

I think I paid $80 about 2 years ago delivered to my house from a local warehouse. I did install myself.
