I am brand new member here. I have stumbled through in the past doing some daydreaming and research, but I never owned a car until this week. Now I am quickly finding out what an amazing gold mine this place is.

Right now I am just going to get my car running right and looking good. There are a bunch of little things to do, but (hopefully) nothing big. It runs like **** , but there is no steam, or white smoke, or painful knocking/tapping. No oil in the water or water in the oil. I plan on replacing the basics (plugs, wires, coil, distributor, gas filter), but I'll still need to take it to a shop to get the codes read. (I smoke too much to deal with that flashing morse code **** ) It has some surging and idle problems that are probably due to bad sensors or other evil spirits that possess 35 year old cars.

Within a year or two I will make it go fast. I can afford it, and I have a second vehicle to drive. I had a modded sports car once before (supercharged '98 Integra Type-R), but I just got it all lined out when I stared having kids. When I sold that car I replaced it with a brown (walnut) 4 door Camry. Actually a very good car, but I aged 10 years that week. Now my kids are off too college and I am going to try to get that ten years back with my Fiero.

With the Integra I drove it for a year and started hanging out on Honda-tech. If I had modded it as soon as I bought it I would have gone turbo. But by being patient I ended up with the supercharger which was so much better for what I wanted.

Right now it feels like it needs bushings and shocks/struts. If I have to get new shocks and struts I might as well upgrade to the coilovers now. Even though I won't need them for performance reasons with my current engine I can at least improve the appearance with a little drop.

Puzzled by the thread title?

Me too.

I started off intending to write about something completely different. Forgot to change the title after I changed directions of the post.

Sorry. Did not realize I can not swear here.

I have no problem with that rule.

Actually, you *are* allowed to swear here, just as long as you don't circumvent the censor system. 😁

So it's perfectly fine to say "my fracking car is a piece of **** and my mechanic is an ******* ". Because the censor system takes care of it (in fact, I didn't type "fracking", the censor system simply replaced the original expletive with a more acceptable version 😄). What's not allowed and will quickly get you banned, is to call other members "a fracking ******* ". Not because swearing isn't allowed, but because direct attacks at other members aren't allowed.

Also, I can still change the title for you if you tell me what you want it to read.
