Consulted with Jon Miller who is very knowledgeable about cars used for films and looked into it. I decided that $250 for displaying your Fiero in a movie set is far too low. The travel cost alone is 88 cents per mile (AAA figure) and you'd have to stay there for 8 hours or more, then head home. According to people on the AACA forum, the going price for movie set display cars today is heading towards $1000 One guy signed a contract for a "day". They kept him there for 22 hours and at midnight he was so tired that he had to find a hotel room close by to stay overnight. When the car owner complained to the film company they said " sorry we pay you by the day" that was on the contract. ------------------ " THE BLACK PARALYZER" -87GT 3800SC Series III engine, custom ZZP /Frozen Boost Intercooler setup, 3.4" Pulley, Northstar TB, LS1 MAF, 3" Spintech/Hedman Exhaust, P-log Manifold, Autolite 104's, MSD wires, Custom CAI, 4T65eHD w. custom axles, Champion Radiator, S10 Brake Booster, HP Tuners VCM Suite. I used to to some extras work for Dutch tv series and movies. You do a minimum of 12 hours of "work" and get paid €20... Yes, 20 euros or about $22. So I would drop my car of somewhere for $250 any day (if it was within 100 miles).

I won't touch that even @ 1k/day...
Many years ago movie co came to Belmont Race Track NY and close big sections to film taking days for 1 or 2 short scenes. Semi's to empty and setup, then wait to film, then pack up again. NYC & Philly alone has a lot of movies/shows film there to doing same crap and blocking businesses too and losing money. But City gets huge amount of Fees Taxes etc by Movie Co so F'd everyone else.
So Many Movie Co's go else where like NL to pay pennies or not pay anyone VS almost anywhere in the US on top of avoiding dealing w/ Many Unions & not just SAG and Writer's Guild. Plus avoid strict Child Acting & more Rules in the US.
Anyone going to this is very likely going to have problems. Including your headache if they wreck/destroy you car. Read the Contract because often have ways to stop paying for damages and more. And your I-co may not pay either because car is use for anything commercial. (Same reason many drive for Uber et al & I-co won't pay &or Car Co voids Warranty. Is now one of or the first question "they" ask after any crash, "Where you driving for business?")------------------ Dr. Ian Malcolm: Yeah, but your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should. That $1k a day figure is based upon me parking my car for an 80's street scene and no one driving it. It is the typical going rate but film companies will offer as little as someone will accept. If it has to be driven then I will be the sole driver. Before anything happens I would read the contract and agree to its terms only if they are in my favor. The insurance issue that you raised is definitely a concern. Movie budgets are typically in the millions so $1k would be small change for them. Forum member Peter Bransky had his 84 in a movie and next time I see him I will ask about the compensation he was given. ------------------ " THE BLACK PARALYZER" -87GT 3800SC Series III engine, custom ZZP /Frozen Boost Intercooler setup, 3.4" Pulley, Northstar TB, LS1 MAF, 3" Spintech/Hedman Exhaust, P-log Manifold, Autolite 104's, MSD wires, Custom CAI, 4T65eHD w. custom axles, Champion Radiator, S10 Brake Booster, HP Tuners VCM Suite.
