Finally a Fiero owner (Page 1/2)

Well, I've done it! A clean, stock '86 GT with 70k miles popped up near me and I couldn't resist. Has the Muncie 4-speed. The interior looks practically new. The exterior has some clear coat issues but mechanically she's solid. No leaks, squeaks, or driveability issues. Power windows and power mirrors all work.

My initial goal was to buy a car and get more heavily into autocross, but I already know I won't be able to make myself cut up this Fiero. So I'm planning on wrapping it over the winter with 3M's Satin Vampire Red and installing a handling kit from the Fiero store. Other than that, I'll just clean it top-to-bottom and refresh any worn components.

The best handling mod for a pre-88 Fiero is to install the fiero store matched front and rear sway bars.

Greetings to the Forum and the FUN!

My second Fiero was an early ‘86 V6 / 4-Speed SE as I didn't enjoy the ’84 ‘Iron Duke'.......

Find the Gold: Use the PFF Seach feature and learn about your options as upgrading your '86.

The experience of searching to enhance your ride can be a thrill and addictive!

Welcome to the Fiero Party!

Welcome to the Fiero Family!

That is beautiful '86 GT you found. I'm sure you have many years of enjoyment ahead of you.

You already know about PFF, so that is a great start...

Great looking Fiero- wish mine looked that good but It (and I) are gettin' old (Need to learn how to do SUBTRACTION)

One critical thing to be knowledgeable about is how to properly jack up your Fiero and especially SUPPORT your Fiero- there are a couple of places underneath that look solid- and would BE solid on any other car.....We lost a very nice young man due to this problem.

Here is a diagram of where to jack and where to support your Fiero- print it out and keep it in the glovebox (And actually READ it)

This is great to have, thanks!

Yes, the handling kit that the Fiero Store sells has both front and rear sway bars, KYB struts and Eibach progressive springs. I'm getting the windows tinted on Friday and should have everything I need to wrap it within the month. Going with 3M's Satin Vampire Red, Satin Black on the half roof and A-pillars, and keeping the silver two-tone paint on the bottom.

Thanks for the welcome and I'm looking forward to learning more on the forum!

Good decision. IMO, the look of the earlier GTs is diminished when the silver colored aero trim is changed to look like the single body color '88 GTs.
