Has this ever been done? (Page 1/1)

I love fiero notchback rear ends, however something never really sat right with me regarding the notches body lines. Has anyone ever done something like this?

IRM made something like that, there are some pics here: https://www.fiero.nl/forum/...031229-1-033524.html

It almost looks like an EA86, would be a cool project if you can pull it off!

That IRM one is really close. But I think it takes away from the Fiero look with that big front splitter. Plus the panels go all the way to the rear which doesn't give the "tail" any definition. I just want a little more 308 flavor. I have no idea how I would even go about doing this. Im just rattling off ideas

Yes several kits have done a semi fast back look.

You mean like this...

This was the custom creation of local club member, Clynt Gunnyon. Plenty of photos in this long thread... Clynt’s choptop/widebody (For some reason, the posts in that 14 page thread appear in reverse order.)

[EDIT] I was going through that thread, in the proper sequence , and I re-discovered this shot that I had taken and posted way back then. I like it (for a variety of reasons).

Someone on this forum had proposed building "extensions" to do precisely what was pictured.
It wasn't nearly as elaborate as the IRM pieces. All it did was slightly increase the angle of the pillar, extending the base by maybe 2-3 inches.
I don't know what ever happened to the idea, but a bunch of people liked it. It was never produced, however. At least not that one.

⚠️ Above pic Has been done.... To one car I have... & deck lid will not open if new angle goes too far back so fools cut the lid.

Worse, all versions makes the "blind spot" for backing out/into of parking spot etc even bigger the normal.
Is worse then park then SUV etc park next to you.

Is Why GT has "Windows" for the fastback sides so have a little better view to back the car.

About the fastback window view, the ogre is totally right.
I had an 86GT bs k in the 2000s, and the previous owner or 2-3 previous owners to him painted the windows back with a very dark no see through paint. The window looked great, and different for that time, but the issue I noticed when I bought the car was absolutely no visibility on both side. Resulting a very dangerous situation if you’re looking back, blind spot, and changing lane.
Very foolish that somebody had the idea to do this, even if the window was dark and looked cool.
Sometimes cool is actually down right dangerous.
Same goes for “kids” and the love for tinted windows. When you can’t see the driver for anything, that can create a problem and safety issues.
