Web story today about the vette museum (Page 1/2)

In the vette story they mention a 1984 PPG Indy Pace Car that was a vette. What's up with that?

Next question, is this a Corvette forum?

Called a typo. Just move on.

There seem to be a few different makes: https://ppgpacecars.com/category/1984/

Of course, we're all a little biased and have been focused on the Fiero pace car for '84... but yeah, there appear to be several different makes of cars for each year at Indy. Interesting.

So lets talk about Fred's car. You know, the Fiero?

Looks like Fred's car would require a two step process to open the deck lid...
Maybe Pontiac out-bid the others for the honours.

I'm guessing there were different brands of pace cars for different race series. Not surprised.

But I did a web search for Corvette Pace Car. There was none listed for 84. Closest was 86.

Raydar, I don't pretend to know anything about it... but the '84 Corvette Pace Car actually comes up quite often in a search, including in the following video...

If it's like the turbo, there is a latch with a cylinder that allows the scoop to free-float once released but it is still hinged in the front.
