OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG... (Page 1/2)

I know it's so uncool to brag, and I apologize in advance... but I got this in e-mail this morning, and I'm very excited...

This is (hoping) going to be my stainless steel headers: https://westcoastfiero.com/...rty-exhaust-headers/

It'll be going on the 3.4 that I'm dropping in there.

Nice! Definitely looking forward to the 3.4 videos after your daughter's Fiero is done.

They're actually going to come sooner... I have a bunch of Fiero parts sitting around for building out the 3.4... all of which I want to take care of sooner than later so I can get rid of the boxes. That includes the H272 cam, the 1.52:1 roller rockers, the new pushrods, the newly ported cyl heads with the SI tulip valves (and you get the old / new ones)... all of which is taking up space. As soon as my daughter's engine and transmission are back in the car, we're going to bust out my DCC9 3.4 and built it up, paint it, and then put it back in the crate, and then I can get rid of all the other stuff.

The reality though, my 3.4 won't get into my Fiero until her Fiero is out of the garage... so it could be a year from now.

Makes sense, good to give your daughter perspective on another engine while she is fresh from the iron Duke, see how different engines are assembled with the similarities and differences between them. And thanks again for the heads!

To me stainless looks too good to coat or wrap. You doing anything to them?

Awesome

Wow, they look nice! (But quite a price!)
I make my own exhaust pipes, but there again I can weld. Not everyone has the fab skills and/or the time.

Yeah... I know... this was a big expense. I'm allowing myself to do it because I've come to the realization that these parts will not be available in the future. If I ever intend to restore my Fiero (of which I was 75% of the way through), I'm going to need to buy these now. I can weld too... but I know it'll never look that nice.

I've been waiting / wanting to buy a set of nice shorty headers that don't deviate too much from original stock look, and these are basically perfect. This is about where I've gotten on my restoration... which I started back in 2010 or something, and halted in late 2011. Cars been in storage ever since...

Everything here in the front is brand new, or removed / sanded / painted:

I re-did the entire suspension with the Grand Am brake upgrade kit...

I used poly everywhere... and in hindsight, I'm probably going to re-do the lower front control arms and install rubber bushings. Those are brand new WS6 springs (ordered from NAPA, slightly higher spring rate than WS6, but stock height).

Yeah, I'm getting a little tired of being "bounced and shaken" as well by unforgiving polyurethane bushes.
I may go back to standard bushes, as quite frankly my car is not a stripped down race car, even if it is fast!
The best handling upgrade for a trackday is a set of sticky tires. The rest is just the 0.1% improvement, that unless you're racing professionally, you can't even feel!
However, you can feel all the NVH coming through your backside!!

I wish I could find the thread where this was discussed (it might even be one that I started and someone responded to), but someone said that keeping the upper control arm bushings poly was still the most ideal situation, but that for both the front and rear lower control arms... ideal was to keep them rubber as this is where most of the vibrations are transmitted.
