What would you like to see added to PFF? (Page 1/8) |

I ask this question every now and then. Just wondering what people would like to see added to PFF. I do a lot of work behind the scenes, making sure PFF keeps running smooth for everyone so I'm really talking about things you would like to see that would improve user experience.
For instance, one thing I would like to add is an option to change the width of the page. I have a 2K display myself and having PFF fill the entire width of my screen makes it difficult to read posts. I'm guessing that's even worse for people using 4K screen. Also, I am thinking of implementing a post "like" feature, similar to the "like" options on social media.
So, what are your wishes?

Looking at the tech section, I just realized that it may be beneficial to have a marker that states "Problem solved"....You ask a question, go thru a bunch of posts suggesting different possible solutions, and then you come back and post stating "I found the problem & solved it!"
The obvious problem with this situation is, you have to read the whole post to find out "I just turned it upside-down, like Mr.Fierotechy suggested, and it solved the problem completely"
Would be nice to have a green star or such and the end result highlighted at the end of the post...

When responding to a post, I would like to see a larger text window with which I can respond in.
Also, I x2 the "problem solved" option.

I agree. On some forums, I see the option for the TS to mark one on the replies as the "Solution". This post then gets stickied immediately below the TS's original post. I really like that so that's a definite candidate for implementation.

Idea # 2
Can a notification option be added when replying to a post that you did not create ?
Currently that option is available when creating a post.

Definitely would love a notification option for others posts, and perhaps a way to have the page auto refresh/update when new posts come through without needing to refresh the page, especially on mobile. Another thing would be to be able to select text on mobile, right now I cannot select text for copying, etc. I need to switch to desktop view to do that, which then is impossible to read on my phone.

I'd be interested in seeing a couple of steps taken in the encoding of the forum to make the posting experience a little easier.
1) Instead of needing to manually type in every time a video is linked to/embedded in a post, it would be much more efficient for the poster to be able to simply click on a command box as we currently are able to do for the following...
2) I find that often when I click on the command box to institute Size or Color etc, that the box that opens to set the parameters is located way up at the top of the screen, which then necessitates the need to scroll the page down to access it.
| CLICK FOR FULL SIZE |
Worse than that, often this box is located up beyond the top of the screen... so that there's nothing even to indicate that it's been opened.
3) I'm no coder, I know nothing about it... but there's got to be a way around this issue of not being able to upload an image unless the member has logged in! I don't know how many times I've typed out a post, and then wished to add an image... only to discover that it can't be done as I haven't logged in. This then requires the post to be copied to the clipboard, backing out of the thread, going through the log in procedure, accessing the thread again, pasting the copied post from the clipboard, and then uploading the image. It's a royal pain in the azz. The simplest solution might be for the software to prevent a forum member from even beginning to start typing out a post until they're logged in.
I access PFF 100% of the time on a Windows PC, in case that might help clarify what I experience here while using the forum.[This message has been edited by Patrick (edited 05-25-2024).]

Definitely a "Like" button. There are quite a few posts I like or think are super helpful (even though I no longer own a Fiero ). I don't need to create a new post just to say I like something.
