Hello everyone, As you may or may not know, here in France it is virtually impossible to register and use a car that has no paperwork. It's even illegal to sell a complete car that has no valid inspection (contrôle technique) so the thing is destined for the scrapyard whatever! I have come accross an '88 GT that seems complete, running (just about) but has no french paperwork. My question to you would be: If I buy the thing, would any of you be interested in some of the parts? Bearing in mind that there would be shipping costs from Europe. I'm thinking about keeping the cradle and suspensions plus the wheels, gearbox, decklid grilles and one or two trim items. But the rest, including all the bodywork, interior, engine, etc... I have no need for. The price is at 4000€ for the moment, but as I said, the guy can't really sell it whole except to a Fiero enthusiast like me. Interested or not? Regards, Rafe

Rafe, I would suspect that most (possibly all) interest would be from Fiero owners in Europe. Hopefully there'll be some input from those PFF members.
Any idea what the history is on this car, especially considering it has no paperwork? Sounds very cloak and dagger!

Yes Patrick, the thing is rather suspicious. I have no idea how the car ended up in France? ------------------ "Turbo Slug" - '87 Fiero GT. 3800 turbo. - The fastest Fiero in France! @turboslugfiero https://youtu.be/hUzOAeyWLfM

Well I spent the morning asking the seller questions; to which his monosylabic replies gave me absolutely no confidence! The car has no history and no paperwork. So quite probably a stolen vehicle. I said he would be better off breaking the car up himself and selling the parts on eBay. He said he had other buyers who were ready to pay: "The car's nearly sold!" I wished him a good day😉------------------ "Turbo Slug" - '87 Fiero GT. 3800 turbo. - The fastest Fiero in France! @turboslugfiero https://youtu.be/hUzOAeyWLfM

Do you have any pictures of this car? It's possible a member here used to own that '88 GT before it... disappeared.

Thanks Rafe. That's a very distinctive custom nose, and the decal on the rear bumper is uncommon. Maybe someone will recognize this Fiero!

It's just an Europeen flag/sticker on the back. Thinking about it now, that's the kind of thing the Brits would do while living in France while still driving their English registered cars. (Before Brexit.) Since there are no registration plates, they probably just abandoned the car; too difficult to reimport back home with them. (Unpaid road taxes, insurance, VAT undeclaired, etc...)
The French guy selling it has no paperwork, but he thinks he's got a car that's worth something!? As said before, it's impossible to get that car registered in France without a proper paper trail, without having paid the VAT on what the French authorities think the car's worth and without paying the UTAC inspection.
I've been through all of that to drive my Fiero; took more than a year to get it road legal here. (+ lots of €€€!)
