Yeah, well Rumble doesn't work in France. So I'll take your word for it.
157mph is about 253km/h!
Not sure the aerodynamics of a Fiero stay stable at that kind of speed. Even if you could get it up there. I get scared on the long straights at anything over 220km/h! I'm no longer just driving, I'm starting to fly!------------------ "Turbo Slug" - '87 Fiero GT. 3800 turbo. - The fastest Fiero in France! @turboslugfiero https://youtu.be/hUzOAeyWLfM

If only you had the 3.091 final drive... you could spin the dyno to 180 mph.

How common is that? I heard a lot of people say this happens... but in my less mature years, I would routinely take my 87 SE / V6 (aero) pegged at the 120mph mark on the speedometer, and the headlight covers never popped up. At least, I don't ever remember them doing that.
I'd imagine that the headlights flipping up at that speed would be catastrophic for them... I mean, like completely flying off at that point.

It is quite common. Normally they just pop up an inch or two to relieve the pressure, sometimes they go all the way up. Under extreme cases, they can snap off, but that is rare. This is more common for the non-aero paneled cars. It also can happen on 2 lane roads at lower speeds when a semi or large truck passes going the other way It gets worse over time due to the springs on the headlight doors becoming weaker. Hood and other vents help keep this from happening as it reduces the opportunity for pressure to build up under the covers.

Interesting... I wonder if this is why on the Ferrari 308 (which is dimensionally very similar to our Fieros) they had vents just before the headlight buckets.

I would have loved that for the 6speed in my 4.9 ... but now my 4.9 is dead. 6th on that newer F40 feels like the getrag's 5th...
My 3.4/5 v6 has the original gearing which is decent though racing with my new setup...the gap between gears 1 and 2 is actually slowing me down since my power band has moved to higher rpm. When I had the extra torque a bit sooner, it didn't matter much.
I have a series 3 3800 sitting on a pallet that needs to be rebuilt. Ideally that replaced the 4.9... Not looking for performance...just a nice cruiser.
