Hello all!
I am new to this group, having just imported a black 1988 Fiero Formula from Sweden to Norway. Vin code 1G2PE1192JP225164. Done 63000 miles and seems to be in very good nick.
First question - my car has a brown interior but the complete center console is black. Is this "normal"?
Thanks Tom

No. The console and the instrument pod should be “beechwood” (the browned tan colour). Also, it looks like the shifter has been changed. The stock shifter is a T-shaped shifter with a push-button on the left side.

Hm, as I suspected! I will try to contact previous owner(s) and ask what happened.

Also, the little bump-out to the right of the steering wheel... where that elongated plate is with the four screws (two at the top and two at the bottom) is... that is where the trunk release and rear-window defogger normally goes. I've never seen a car that doesn't have either, but generally they come with one or the other. Yours is a Formula, so it would not have had very many options... but I don't think that plate is normal.

At least it matches the exterior color.

Didn't all 88's come with the matrix pattern on the trim pieces? It looks like the shift surround plate is the brushed color.

With custom bolts holding it down.

Yeah, it looks like all of the interior fascia pieces have been painted. You can see sort of an orange peel texture on it if you look closely.

It looks like it was replaced, hence the bolts on the corners, the other faces have a sort of wrinkle paint finish.

Wonder why someone would take all the trouble to change the colour? I am adding one more picture of the instrument pod! Are the headlight washers also something the Swedes added?
