Hidden stickers on the hood and decklid of the Fiero... (Page 1/2) 82-T/A [At Work] MAR 03, 05:52 PM Hey guys, just curious if anyone has any information about these stickers, or if they were even aware of them. On several Fieros that I've restored and / or worked on, I've found serial number stickers on both the hood and the decklid. Not to be confused with the VIN stickers that cars from 86+ got... but manufacturer serial number stickers. On the hood, there is a sticker on the underside that's right at the front, and on the decklid, there is a sticker that typically sits on the underside directly below the hinge (it's mostly covered by the hinge). From the factory, the hood and decklid are painted underneath. I'm having a polite disagreement with someone who says they don't think these stickers are original, but my daughter's car had them, and my 87 Fiero had them. FRONT: REAR: Keep in mind, these stickers (on your car) would be painted over... so you wouldn't see them except for a slight outline of the sticker under the factory black paint... like this hood example that I found that's currently for sale on eBay: So my question is... anyone know the history of these stickers? And... anyone else seen these on their cars? Thanks! 82-T/A [At Work] MAR 03, 05:54 PM Note, on the above two pictures (of my hood and decklid), we used a scotch bright on the hood before repainting it, and took the paint off the original stickers, and then taped off the sticker so that we could repaint the hood while revealing the sticker ... in case anyone was curious. This was not done on the early cars. These stickers are ones that came from the manufacturer of both the hood and decklid. I believe it documents the short cut to the "build" sheet, but is also to deter theft . Nice to know. I thought about that, but if I'm not mistaken, 86+ Fieros got the VIN stickers on all the parts anyway... so I don't know if those are for theft deterrent, largely because they're painted anyway. I'd love to know where the panels themselves were actually manufactured. My assumption is that the hood and trunklid were numbered to keep track of stock and delivery to the factory. I assume that they were both then painted (top and bottom) at the factory before being installed, and those those stickers get covered and no one cares after that... haha... css9450 MAR 05, 05:19 PM There's also that little (like 1 x 1 inch) "Fiero Deck Lid" sticker that some cars have.
