I still drool when I see a nice Solstice/Sky (Page 1/3)

Anybody else?
I saw a beautiful maroon (not sure what they call that color) Solstice yesterday. So nice!

I agree, they are beautiful but the way the ragtop is designed at the rear is problematic and they have very little room in the cabin.

Totally useless cars, but right up there in my top ten favorites.

Yes, thy make a beautiful garage ornament

Id like a debadged sky, I'd build a fiberglass top for it and remove the retractable top after the top goes bad though. The solstice just doesn't have the right lines for me.

I liked the looks, power (turbo motor), handling, and top down driving so much so much, that I have a 2008 Sky RL in the garage. I have to admit that I only drive it to work when no rain is forcasted (not because I don't want it to get wet, bu because I don't like washing it all of the time).

I've driven a good handful of both.

My boss drives a Techno Gray Sky to work daily. She affectionately calls it her baby.

Back in Dec '12 a Victory Red Sky showed up at a used car lot a mile from my house with 6,000 miles on it for only $17,000. Not a Red Line, but still in hindsight it probably would have been a good buy. But I was still saving for my recent 'Vette purchase.

My local LSx tuner got in a customer that has a Techno Gray Sky with an LS3 swap. Apparently the day the owner bought the car, he had it shipped to Mallett for the install. It was a "money is no object"-type thing. Pictures were posted on Facebook and I just

Even though both the Solstice and Sky were built in so few numbers they've gotten dirt cheap. I've seen 70,000 mile '06-'07 Solstices in particular in the $6,000-$8,000 range quite a few times, as long as you don't mind black or silver colors. I'll probably buy one at some point on down the line. The issues on dealing with the intricacies of having a manually operated top have been fairly worked out, as in you can buy aftermarket hard tops for both the Sky and the Solstice, making it more useable in most weather. I didn't much mind dealing with the top, but thought that having to unclasp each side behind the window on the "sails" was a bit over kill in the design. It's not that bad though. But I'd probably look into dropping some extra $$$ anyway on an aforementioned aftermarket hardtop.

I sold my '07 GTP for $14k almost exactly one year ago with 40k on the clock. I really liked that car - it was just one more sign that there was still life at Pontiac and people who wanted to make cool cars. It had a couple oddball shortcomings (I found the seats pretty wretched for a roadster, much less a sports car) but was overall a really nice bit of kit. I ended up selling it for the same reason I sold the CTS-V before it - it was just too fast and too competent to have around. Always a temptation to drive like an asshat, and way too easy to go way too fast. I find my '87 GT to be a little rough around the edges but just as fun to drive, and far less easy to end up in jail. As the saying goes, it's more fun to drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow.

I like the Sky, the Solstice not as much. I would love one with a transplanted LS engine.
