Thanks for all the answers guys, I dig the volvos but all the cheap ones are automatics ... The miata or mx5 is a good choice but I want a stock turbo and seriously a car I could run into the ground so 2500 or cheaper, like a chumpcar. So I'm thinking a turbo supra, rx7, or turbo mustang. Appreciate it though!!! ------------------ 86 Fiero GTX project now tearing up the street, My build thread! 3800sc, interior, wheels, suspension and more! http://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum1/HTML/089483.html

You'll pay more than $2500 for any of those.

X2 this. If you can find a shadow, Daytona, or even a Spirit R/T you'd be golden. Ive seen a few Spirit R/Ts drive deep into the 13s and have heard of them even going 12s. Not the prettiest things to stare at in the world, but they are performers for sure.
Edit: Also, you could look for an omni/horizon turbo that'd be light and cheaper to boot.

Maybe I'm sentimental because I own an R/T, but I think they are beautiful cars, and great sleepers because really the only thing visually separating them from a base Spirit is a tiny trunk spoiler that can be easily overlooked and R/T lettering on the trunk lid, but it's the same color, size, and font as that of the ES model so that can be missed as well. My '92 R/T will still hang with new Bimmers and tops out somewhere north of 150mph (never had her that fast, but I know for a fact she'd do 141 stock.) I did turn up the boost a little so she makes close to 300hp now. May I also recommend 1st gen Eclipses/Talons as they are also turbo, stick, and even AWD if you want. I'm acquainted with the guy who has the fastest 1/4 mile street legal AWD vehicle in the world, and it's a Talon. I say acquainted because I don't know him all that well, but his shop has done some tuning on my turbo mopars and I have talked with him once or twice. His Talon has been in a few mags.

1G or 2G eclipse GSX or GST as for RWD turbo... your choices stock are few and far inbetween. your better off just getting a 240SX and forgetting the turbo... [This message has been edited by pontiackid86 (edited 01-10-2013).]

You haven't priced a good running '80s Supra in a while, have ya? Decent Supras are going for $3500 and those in great condition are sometimes close to twice that. And the 3rd gens are the cheapest of the bunch. You'd be hard pressed to find a 1st gen (Mk I) at any cost and the 2nd gens (Mk II) are running $5-10k. Probably can't touch a decent 4th gen for less than about $20k.
I haven't seen any turbo RX 7s for much less than $4k or $5k in passable condition. I've been looking at RX 7s/Supras/etc the last couple of years as I've been in a "nostalgic" mood and thought I might buy one.
I'm not saying there aren't deals out there but he's going to look long and hard and it sounds like he's ready to buy now.

The first word out of my mouth when I started to read this post was "VOLVO"! Second word was turbo. but then everyone seems to think so....
My fav is the 1994Thunderbird ~ v-8 modular 4.6 with the automatic , differential ~without lockers. The cars after 1994 in this series lost the ingredients for a cool car. You would probably look to a Mustang maybe for a manual trans swap. The trans has gotten a bad rap I think. Except for replacing the trans speed sensor it has been real reliable and quick shifting where it should.
Good luck looking for your car. Send pics when you decide! ~Zep[This message has been edited by mwzephyr (edited 01-17-2013).]

For cheap, I also recommend any late 80s Chrysler. I had an ES600 (K car) with the 4 cyl turbo. Terrible lag, but pretty fast when wound up. Easy to find under $1000. I only paid like $1200 a dozen years ago and it was a cherry convertible too. I know a guy here who has a turbo 4 in his 84 caravan that runs 10s-11s at the dragstrip. Its also his daily work truck.
