What are you saying? The cheap green stuff is 10 times more expensive than Dexcool? Maybe the other way around. The cheap green stuff is.....um, cheap. And it lasts forever although I'd flush it every 5 years or so anyway.

It means I totally agree with him 10 times over.

I had to change the intake gasket on my 2000 blazer trailblazer last week. Coolant was pouring out between the intake and head. At least it was going up instead of into the oil. 220,000 miles. It's been a good vehicle but a real PITA whenever I have to work on it.

I get 20-22 mpg in the summer on the highway. 18mpg around town.

weaselbeak --- My bad. I misunderstood.

Justinbart --- Only 220k miles? Shameful.

I spent some time with the truck this weekend. The pass side door had some generic ghetto weatherstripping on it so I removed all that junk and cleaned up the frame. I went to the junkyard and picked up the factory piece for $5 and replaced it. The window is actually where it is supposed to be now, and the wind noise will no longer be an issue. While I had the inside door panel apart, I replaced the missing bolt in the door handle, and reattached the manual lock slider. I replaced the missing tailgate cable connection bolt and found the old nut still trapped behind the brake light.

Since the ebrake didn't work, I traced the cables back to find they were disconnected from the drums, and both ends had the 3 tab-locks broken off. I will be ordering new cables and having my first experience with drum brakes pretty soon. Hopefully the fix will be as easy as just reattaching the cables.

Good luck..... I had to mess around with my Sierra's rear disk brakes again this past weekend. I thought one of the calipers was sticking. Took it off & cleaned it up good so everything slides as intended. Got it back on & its still getting really hot. Must be the incorporated e-brake drum that's sticking.

Sorry, I fixed my post. I meant rear "DRUM" brakes...

My advice - when you get the drum off - TAKE A PICTURE!

You can change just the selector wheel on the heater fan control, I did that on both the s10s I've owned in the past.

Another tidbit about ZR2s, they actually have a different wider fully boxed frame as opposesd to a standard S10/Sonoma 4x4.

Well I finally got around to swapping out the ebrake cables that have been cut. When I pulled the drums off to connect the cables, the actual Ebrake lever was missing from both sides. A quick trip to pull-a-part and 45 mins later, I had the correct brackets. I now have a semi-functioning ebrake. I need to properly adjust the star mechanism, then fully adjust the equalizer. For now, its a good start.

When I tried to change out the front pads, i realized the crappy replacements I got from AZ didn't have the hole stamped in the back for the supplied clips to attach to. I had to make another trip to get them swapped out. The exact same brand/part number had that clip riveted in place. I ran out of time before I could get those installed.

When I was under the truck, I noticed this vacuum line had been melted through:

I cut out the damaged section and put a plastic double-barb fitting in there. I'm not sure what it was for, perhaps the transmission/4wd? I also zip-tied the lines away from the exhaust so it won't happen again.
