Reatta, Do I really need one? (Page 1/5)
JumpStart JUL 10, 08:48 PM
I really like my Fiero for several reasons but mostly because its different. For awhile I have been looking at pictures and videos of Reattas and I cant seem to shake the feeling of wanting to get one. They seem like they would be a fun car to drive and maybe travel in. Plenty of storage space and I am assuming that they are quiet and ride nice also at around 3600 lbs. Maybe swap in a low mileage series 3 3800 na and matching tranny? They just seem interesting and different.

Anyone reading this ever own one? Pros/Cons?

Thanks,

Steve

Doh growing pains of the new forum sections

But since the ice was broken on this topic AND you are in Central Florida

I stopped to look at a 1990 silver one today on the East side of Melbourne

Our Fiero club has a member that owns one too

Price a windshield and get back to us

Stay away from the early ones as much as possible, they have all the cool touch screen gimmicks, and are rather problematic, unless that is your thing. Test drive a few before you decide to get one. Spend a little more to get one that has been taking care of, unless you want a project a cool project that is. I really like them for some reason, can't put my finger on it.......

*technically* I sat in one at a junkyard, REALLY felt like an old man's car. The digital dashes are not the best quality, either.

I wasn't "technically" looking at one as a sportscar but more as a old man's luxury type car with decent gas mileage. Oh, and did I mention they are "technically different"?

*Technically* I would try and find one for sale and test drive it, and see if you like it.

Technically.

I was a tech at a Buick dealership during the Reatta years...... The 3800 drivetrain is good, the main problem with the cars was fit and finish issues, squeaks and rattles, and the odd electrical problem. Make sure you take a good long test drive and make sure all the systems are working properly.

If you can find one in good shape, go for it. Its a great place to store a spare 3800.

There was a very nice one at a car show I attended recently

My father has a 90 Vert reatta.. there nice and a real smooth rice.. fun at 1st but you'll find they get kinda boring really fast.. They should have been a RWD car. and the only reason they get kinda good MPG is because it has a big ass gas tank (18 gallons) other than that there not anything to write home about MPG wise..

Same thing that I heard, although I don't know from experience.
I've also heard that all the whiz-bang electronics can be problematic.
