Let's see your Miata! (Page 1/2)

This is our '97.

Wheels are Rota RBs (Minilite/Panasport clones.)
It sits at stock height. The only way I'll be able to lower it is to flare the fenders. Not sure I'm ready to do that yet.
Drivetrain and etc. is completely stock.
Has just over 100K on the odo.

It's pretty much of a beater/project car. Lots nicer ones out there. (Pictures hide a lot of sins.)
But it runs like a sewing machine.

My '91 a year ago, just after purchasing it:

I've since repaired some body damage, painted the lower half of the bumpers flat black to match the sides, replaced the exhaust (has a beautiful tone now!), replaced the brakes and put a new soft top on it.
Has half a billion miles on it and will be getting a new engine this winter, if all goes well.

Nice looking car ( I usually don't care much for the looks of Miatas, but having owned an MGB, I love the concept). Is that the wife's DD? When will you me stuffing a V-8 in that puppy?

I used to have a Midget. You'd be amazed at how similar they feel. Mazda was shooting for the MG feel, and IMHO, they nailed it. I read that they spent a million dollars to get the exhaust sound "just right".

It's not really a DD for either of us. Mostly a toy for both.
She's all about the V8 (she loves getting hole shots on BMWs at redlights) but I'll have to come up with the funds.
Not going to do anything now. It's only got ~100K on it. Runs too good to scrap a decently running motor.

The MGB was fun (but slow, even though you felt fast since it was so small). All the "young folks" had never heard of MG's. They always asked if it stood for Mr. Green. I always thought it would be fun to stick a Mazda Rotary into the MG. Maybe that's what you should do? How many vehicles do you have? I've been up to as many as nine, but the family is currently holding at 7. My 53 F100 is almost "done," so I'm not sure what I'll drag home next (probably another bike).

Mr. Green. I like it.

I was surprised when I heard that it stood for Morris's Garage.
The "rotary" question gets asked, occasionally, on the forums. The general consensus is that it's a whole lot of trouble for not much improvement.
Here's the "sticky"

This guy went ahead and did it anyway. Sounds like more trouble than a V8.

As for how many vehicles...
Five, at present.
The Fiero.
The Miata. (aka the Hooptie Miata)
The Trailblazer. (The Tammy Tank)
The Silverado. (Pig Red)
The Odyssey. (The Dogmobile)

I sold the Challenger.

OK- scratch the Wankel and go for the V-8. Sorry to hear that you sold the Challenger. So little time so many vehicles? So, what will you be buying for the stable next?

I doubt I'm going to buy anything for a while. Have to sell something first. The Fiero, of course, is out of the question. The Trailblazer is just too damned useful and too reliable to get rid of. The Miata is a possibility, but it's also a fun car. Tammy's van is a necessity.
I could sell the Silverado, but then I'd have to get another truck. (The last time I sold a truck, I immediately came up with three things I needed a truck for.)
I do want an FR-S, but it's waaay down the road.

I need a bigger garage first.

The Challenger was a great car, but it was just too big. Probably couldn't park it anywhere without it collecting a bunch of dents.

OK- I'll stay tuned to see what transpires. On a parallel note, my son moved back after graduating from college, and my truck moved back also. When he gets a job, I'm hoping he gets a new vehicle so I can drive the S10 into the ground. I didn't realize how much I missed that truck!
