4.7l engine/automatic. approx 140,000 km on it (~87,000 miles)
Only happens some mornings, no other time, does not seem dependant upon the weather - and the Dodge forums don't seem to be too much help.
Go out start the truck to go to work, back out of the driveway and proceed to the main road (say 50-80 yards) - when I stop at the stop sign the engine feels like it wants to stall as it will stutter. Once I start moving, all is fine at the next stop. The truck will idle fine when started and even when I back out of the driveway and stop, just after travelling that little bit extra distance it does this.
No engine light (or pending codes).
Suggestions? Have done an engine flush and injector cleaning, but didn't seem to help (or did but tempary, but it is really intermittant so hard to say).[This message has been edited by Mickey_Moose (edited 07-20-2012).]

2003 Dodge Dakota with a 4.7, there is your first problem right there I kid, I kid.
Check the power steering pressure switch. They leak into the harness and cause all kinds of f'ed up probelms. I have had to replace a few ecms because of this - power steering fluid follows the harness and seeps into the computer. Cool stuff. Other things to check, cam and crank sensors, they are problematic as well. Also try to remove the throttle body and iac valve and clean them out, they sometimes get crap in there causing low air flow into the engine while idleing. TPS sensors read erratic sometimes as well Good Luck!

U ever do a trans flush? May have a sticking torque converter clutch. Just a thought and something to look into.

I don't have any suggestions. I just wanted to say that I always thought it was brilliant of Dodge to put a V8 in a mid size truck. Chevy could have sold more S10 and Ford more Rangers if they'd done that.

Yes, too bad they are not going to make them anymore.
However, what I find idiotic about the Dakota, was looking the other day at fuel pumps (just in case and wanted an ideal on cost) - the brainiacs at Dodge (same year and engine) have different fuel pump assemblies based on the the type of cab that is on the truck. Different unit between the quad cab and extended cab for example - and they wonder why they needed a bail out?
Others - thanks for the suggestions, will probably start with the throttle body and IAC and go from there - seems to be the logical place to start (will check for the leak as well as that is simple)...
(pluses to all who replied, unless I gave you one already). [This message has been edited by Mickey_Moose (edited 07-23-2012).]
