2003 Mustang venting Power Steering Fluid out the cap. (Page 1/1)

My awesome kick ass work horse 2003 Mustang is leaking Power Steering Fluid out the cap every so many days. Or mostly after I drive it. My wife doesn't seem to make it spew when she drives it but when I do it will leave a puddle. I drive with more revs than her. Anyway I think the system is getting air in it. The main hose with a nut fitting going into the pump is loose but the nut is tight. I am thinking that is my air leak. Anyone know anything about this pump? Is there an O-ring in that fitting that went bad? Thanks folks.

Not sure of the O-ring, but the pumps on those 'stangs are junk. I am a Mustang fan, and have replaced more than my share on several of my old cars. I am not sure of the failure point, but it is a very common issue.

My pump on my 53 F100 that I'm restorodding does pretty much the same thing and it whines like a supercharger. I agree with Tony that these pumps are notorious for being bad. Google this "saginaw pump on ford." This is what I'm going with. The pump is about $40 through AZ if I remember correctly. I don't know if Mustang people are doing this swap, but I don't see why it wouldn't work.

Found the problem. The whole rack started spewing fluid out the drivers side end. Replaced that today all fixed. Thanks guys
