Hey Solstice/Sky owners... (Page 1/9)

The wife bought a new CTS, so I have the green light to get rid of the family hauler and buy something fun. I've wanted a Solstice since the concept cars came out. As I go looking for a used Solstice/Sky (I'm defintiely going GXP or Redline), what are the "weak points" or things I should be on the look-out for? Thanks!

I'd get the Sky, I prefer the edgier look.

I think you also need a CTS. V.

You could get one of each like we did.

But seriously I am really not aware of any weak points myself. Wife is over 50000 miles without any issues on the Sky and I just rolled 10000 + 1 on the Solstice Coupe. They are great cars and a lot of fun to drive. Definitely get GXP or Redline the NA’s just don’t have the get up and go.

I've heard the 2.4 NA version of the these cars were underpowered. But they are zippy around town.
Don't take it from me though , I've never even sat in one of these cars before.
I would go straight away to the 2.0 Turbo's. 260 HP 260 torque.

The interior is nothing special , but I like basic.

Do you like the Miata's?

On second thought...

It would appear that the best bang for the buck would be one of the Scion FR-S / Subaru BRZ twins.
2800 lbs, 200 HP, front engine, RWD, manual tranny option.

One of the car mags described it as (paraphrased) a Miata with a back seat and a roof.
Definitely a driver's car.

My favorite are the Solstice GXP Coupes. They remind me of some of the early to mid 60's sports racers. Too bad Chevy did not pick up these cars after the reorganization.

A Solstice bodied car with a new 323 hp LFX V6 powering it would have been lots of fun........

Deffinetley woth getting but wait until winter comes around.. thats the yime you'll get the best deal on one.. i saved well over $6K buying mine in the winter...

I'm at 52K on it bought it with 26K.. thinks to look at are the top.. driv er seat and interior chrome..

The top just look it over... Right in the middle of the top look under the roof part and see if its starting to fray.. mine is a little but nothing to worry about....

2. the driver seat leather saggs in them very easley..

3 the crhome on the inside is really cheap and can come off with some cleaners...

I prefer the look of the solstice... its a one of a kind look as well.. the saturn sky is pretty much the same thing as the opel GT (which i beleave is still being made over seas) and Also deawoo makes a version of it as well. the solstice was a one and only.. also I think the interior looks a little more streem lined where the sky looks kind of cheap... there both cheaply made interiors but the solstice has a sporty appeal to it..

I was drooling all over the one in the show-room. I better go buy some Lotto tickets to "support education."

I really want the convertible because I love convertibles, but I really like the looks of the coupe (and its possible collectors status). If you had to sell one of them, which one would it be and why?
