I bought a 85 Trans Am as kind of impulse buy, I bought it so I could drive it well my fiero is out of commission because of my swap. It's cool looking and has a carbed 350 with the 700r4 I paid 1800 for it. The engine seized one day due to a bad oil pump, should I find a longblock? Or part out?

350 long blocks can be found all day long for cheap. I'd be tempted to revive it.

All depends on the condition of the body. Motors are cheap, body work is not.

Paint isn't all that expensive, relatively speaking. It's rusted out, dented body panels and any underlying trash that gets expensive. I'd find another motor, drop it in and drive it.

Yeah that's the plan, should I look in junkyards for a longblock or engine?

Yards will probably sell you an engine/longblock with some sort of warranty. I'm guessing for under $500. Make sure it's the same style as the one you have. (One or two piece crank seal, etc. the flywheels are different.)

rebuild.. if they stick with the 85 7004r it be a 2 piece rear main.. getting a one piece rear main 350 isn't an issue as they most times have the flywheel on them..
