'08 Honda Accord, possible misfire? (Page 1/1)

Before I get to the problem I have to say...

1) I married into this car and was in no way involved in the purchase decision
2) I have already had to do more work on this monster than any car I have owned at this age and mileage (2008, 36K miles) and am really starting to hate it with a passion.

So the current problem. Suddenly, as of yesterday, it stalled the first time she started it after an oil change. Drove it home, said it felt like something was wrong. She left today for work, and texted me to tell me something was definitely wrong, felt like it wanted to stall, and didn't "sound" right on accelerating.

Since I was home on sick leave today (flu... yuck!) she brought it home at lunch and took my car back to work, so she could pick up our daughter after work and not worry about breaking dowwn on the side of the road.

I worked up some energy, and found that it would idle ok for me in park and neutral, and even rev up ok. However, when driving, under load, it would accelerate but sounded labored and felt like it was running rougher than normal. No check engine light or codes. At least yet.

I am thinking that I may have a coil going out. The car is a 4 cylinder, with coil on plug ignition. I cannot find any noticeable arcing, but it definitely struggles under load. With only 36K miles, I am doubting a fuel delivery issue.

Anyone with experience with these cars, or a related issue that could provide guidance?

This may serve no use to you, but I can't remember what the warranty was on those cars. My dad has an 08' Civic EX-L Coupe that has a broken motor mount at 24k miles. It was covered under the warranty.... If its still under warranty... try to take it in for service... chances are (if it is under warranty) its going to be free. It was free for my dad like every time. But hey, what do I know? I'm 17 and don't have that much experience with cars yet. good luck.

It is out of warranty. Honda's basic bumper to bumper is 3 years or 36k miles, whichever comes first. It is way over on years.
