99 chevy 1 ton 350 no power (Page 1/2)

I have a 1 ton Chevy two wheel drive with a 350 Vortec in it. The problem I am having is it has no power when hard acceleration sometimes.
It does not miss either. It has good fuel pressure (55 running and 60 K.O.E.O.) Checked flow and fills a can pretty quickly.
Engine vacuum holds steady at 18 In. dips down and recovers on acceleration. Exhaust is not plugged up and does not rattle.
No CEL. Has a new distributor. (gear wore out on old one) engine was timed with scan tool plugged in. Has minimal
timing chain wear. (rocked harmonic balancer back and forth, watched rotor)

I am stumped....My next step is to change the fuel filter which is not that old....

I am beginning to think the injector spider is my problem.

any thoughts?

Sounds like you have the easy stuff covered. It could be the FI spider.

Did they use that stupid CPI spider injection design on 350's too? I thought that was just on some mid-90's 4.3's. You could write a book on what a horrible POS that system was.

The 4.3 service part actually replaces the CPI and the poppet valves with 6 individual injectors.
Is the V8 similar?

Well this did not fix the problem...BUT I did find the problem!!

I found someone with the same truck to try some sensors.
The first one I tried was the MAF sensor and it came alive.

So the cure was the Mass Airflow Sensor.

Yes. I use to get them from The Injection Guru in Indianapolis.
