Can anyone talk me out of it? (Page 1/3)

Got it down to $6000 right now being that my mom's boyfriend is a prior employee and is great friends with the manager, he is claiming me as his son as far as they are concerned. I get an instant $1000+ discount on anything there he says. Also they love movign cars through there quickly and this has been there since June, so may be able to get it even lower if I work at it a bit 8-). Not at all what I want, but logically, it fits all my needs when I take a step back and look.

I truly think it is ugly. I am really trying hard to get past all those luxuries that I "WANT" thought it does have manual which will keep my somewhat in my comfort zone. Doesn't have any other options. Something tells me it is the car for me right now, other parts say I should keep looking.

$6000 for a $3000 tops car? Which is just a throwaway, cheap, ugly, Korean POS? Which it sounds like you DON'T want, and they admit has been sitting on a lot for nearly six months, because nobody else wants it? It sounds like you want to please your friend(s) by doing them a favor by buying it, but there are MUCH better ways of getting along with them.

I see it is valued at $7,000

Has everything I could need currently, thought it lacks everything I want.

That should be enough of a reason?

Don't do it.

Everyone I know that had a Korean car made in the last decade had serious f'n problems. Electrical mostly.

Why spend several grand on a vehicle you neither like, nor want? Seems kind of stupid.

There is a accord and eclipse for almost the same price. That car isnt worth more than 3k. Its been there since june because they are asking double the value. If it was a good deal it would have sold by now.

Found a great deal today

2011 Mitsubishi Galant
33k miles 4 spd automatic
$11,899 after $1360 down(which is just taxes and fees) or $13,200 out the door. (getting a family member special)

includes 60k mile/5yr manufacturer bumper-bumper warranty.
30k/1yr is already used up, I doubt I will go 30k miles in the next 4 years though.

my 4cyl fiero has more power than this thing, so not necessarily a "fun" car, though it does have all the general options such as power locks, power windows, etc. Has a much larger trunk than the fiero (DUH!)
Really, fits all my wants and needs. It is quite spendy still.

2011 galant - $13,062 - $14,025

2009 same model - $13,495

http://www.nadaguides.com/C...S/Standard-Equipment

2005 - $9,727
http://www.kbb.com/mitsubi s...etail&category=sedan
http://www.nadaguides.com/C...E/Standard-Equipment

These cars seem to be holding their value quite nicely, hopefully the whole economy doesn't take (another) dump soon.

Currently have liability only on the fiero, would only cost $60 more to change to full coverage on both a 2011 Galant and my fiero as a secondary.

What do you guys think?

Mitsubishi isn't very well known to be a terribly reliable brand - no personal experience, though. I don't think they're long for the US market, either.

I'd try to find a retired fleet vehicle cheap. Or just buy a LeSabre and get your grandpa swag on...

I agree, I've noticed late model Impala's going pretty cheap around here, I imagine they are around your area as well, fits into that "fleet" category.

If you like foreign cars more, I would look for an Accord, great cars in my opinion and you can usually find them pretty cheap.

This is a retired fleet vehicle. Some medical supply company if i recall correctly. All HWY miles.
