Starting this off with a little back story to how I fell in love with my first car. A 1988 Ford thunderbird Turbo Coupe. It was winter 08 and my dad's 94 ford escort gt needed to go, in other words he wanted something different. He got set on the idea of getting a 88' turbo coupe. And so he bought one from a retired State Trooper, with 132,000 Miles on the odometer and a full service history of absolute care and love from this great owner. It started it's life with my family as my dad's daily driver. It was an 4 speed auto, which I thought was absolutely lame, but the rest of the car was the coolest thing ever. A long story short, it was passed to my older sister for her first car, and was babyed by her. And it was then repainted a custom yellow paint by my father. I helped with a lot of the prep work and body work and learned a lot in the process. Then the vehicle was put into a storage state until I got my license. The car, my car, made my last year of high school the best year of high school ever. The things that that car taught me about driving, and the sheer amount of knowlage I gained messing with cams, front mounts, a T-5 swap, a strait pipe exaust. The list of small things goes on, but then the inveitable happened I guess. It lost all compression on cylinder number one. And so it has been parked in our garage for months gathering dust. I couldn't sleep tonight so I went and sat in the car, which now has exactly 239,999 on the odometer. Probably because I am tired, but I will be frank. I cried, because the feeling in that car is different, it feels sad compared to what it used to be. I know what must be done you could say. Now to the point of this thread, it is my build thread of my thunderbird. Cause I cant start work on my fiero until this car is done. It just wont feel right to me, to leave my pride and joy just sitting there. I'll post pictures and maybe some video of my progress on monday. I will also post my list of goals that I need to achieve with this car. And my idea behind the build itself, basically I am thinking a GT car. It will be on a budget cause I am only 18, but it will be the car I will always keep. (along with my fiero of course! ) Woah, it has been 30 mins, I am tired, no time to edit! Goodnight/goodmorning!

Yes, and that was the same engine the Pinto had, I think. I used to work with a guy that collected Turbo Coupes and I remember him saying that

I had a 79 pacecar, 2.3 turbo. It ran neck and neck with my buddys vin 9 northstar sts. It was quick when you got on it but it had the worst turbo lag ive ever experienced.

I could get scratch in third gear. It was fun to toss around. But, by today's standards, it was slow.
