Who's living with a Ford F450 crew cab dually in an urban environment? Is the size a real pain? Or is it less of a problem than I think? I'm thinking about converting to super singles and eliminating the duals to get the width down. You F350 guys would have all the same experience that I'm looking for. I'm only considering this because I seem to be seeing a few nice ones at good prices compared to F250/F350s. The downside of the F450 is no short bed option.
PS, thanks so much Cliff for a place to talk about other cars! ------------------ RickN White 88GT 5spd (<10K miles) White 85GT (SC3800 Series II w/ AOD) White 99 F250SD 7.3PSD 6spd 1956 Ford 860 Tractor w/ Freeman Loader 20Ft H&H Tilt Bed Trailer (Remember - Gravity is not a tie-down)[This message has been edited by RickN (edited 12-29-2012).]

I think the F450/F350 are the same except for the suspension. A 1 ton dually truck is pretty easy to get around in. I had a few years where all I had was my bike and my semi truck. On snowy/rainy days, I'd drive the semi truck (no trailer), all over to run errands, pick up groceries, etc. It's all what you get used to. If you can get a good deal on an F 450 (and it's what you need), I'd go for it.

Thanks Monkeyman, I believe the F250 & F350 use the same frames, F450 & F550 use the same frames with as you say, the axle choices and subsequent load/tow ratings being the the differences. I wouldn't expect there to be too much difference in how similarly optioned trucks handle on urban/city streets but I was just looking for experience/advice.

Absolutely no need here:-) , just want. I do have some toys to haul around occasionally, but my current truck is more than adequate for this. I think this dually is so cheap due to economy and its size probably attracts a unique buyer.

I drive a f450 dually daily for work and currently have a 4 yard salter and 9 ft western and its no big deal once your used to it. I would avoid a 08-10 powerjunk though. The 6.4 is one giant pile of garbage. Do a DPF delete and a tune and you weill be alright but Id take a good old 7.3 any day over it.

My appologies to the forum, I'm going to have to quit using my tablet to reply. I can't figure why it has so much trouble with PFF. [This message has been edited by RickN (edited 01-15-2013).]

So much a thing of beauty, you posted 3 times! (That IS a nice truck......for someone who just wants to show off. I see no other value in that. I'm sure I'll see value in it once I win the lottery and buy one, though.)
