I just got a 95 Honda del Sol VTEC the VTEC indicates the DOHC engine the regular del Sol has a SOHC engine that is VTEC also but its not the high performance engine. My VTEC version has a rear sway bar, the regular del sol dosent, a stiffer front sway bar, stiffer springs, bigger tires, closer ratio trans. And lower geared, 1" bigger front dics, than the regular del Sol. Nothing on the outside tells that this has the DOHC engine and that is good because kids used to steal these for the engine and trans, I dont know if that has slowed up any or not. I paid $3,000 and the few I found on Craigslist were going for from $3,000 to $6,500, many of them have been modified and then it gets questionable fast if they will pass Calif. Smog. Mines all original and that makes it even harder to find. The owner lived 55 minutes away and brought it to me with a friend following to take him home so I dident have any barganing power but the car is well worth $3,000. No dents but needs repaint, I have had that done and know just where to go. Radio antenna is gone, Factory air conitioning delete and that is a plus with me as air conditioning rarely works on old cars and its expensive to get fixed plus now my motorcycle for people too old for motorcycles is a little lighter. Its a Targa top type car, one man can remove the top easily and it is made to store in the trunk, the back window rolls down and magazines say no wind buffeting and you can hear the radio fine so dont need air conditioning. Another plus is original wheels as so many have aftermarket wheels and bigger wheels really kill performance on these tiny engines and there is the effect of inertial where the the weight of the wheel is more to the outside dia. And that hurts performance with a tiny engine. I have a Car and Driver magazine road test some specs.no back seat, 1600cc, 160hp at 7,600, redline is 8,200 2450 lbs, 0 to 60 7 sec. 1/4 mile 15.8 at 89, 27 MPG. It dosent need finding missing parts or damaged things just paint.
