I've got a 96 F250 2wd 3/4T 5spd 351W 180k mi. Problem is low power at highway speeds, have to go to 4th gear going up small hills at 55mph to keep up. Also makes a single noise like one valve raddle, like most raddles are when you go up a hill and all of them raddle (detonation?). And them I start hearing a little pop noise like a valve struck a little open or timing jumping in the cap. Not getting very good gas milage either about 12 mpg. My old 83 f250 4x4 kcab 4 spd (no OD) with a 408W got 14 mpg. My plan is to put the 408 in the 96 but waiting on $ for a ELD 3881. The next few days I hope to check out the plugs and cap. If not them maybe dirty injectors, EGR or maybe the coolant level since the gauge keeps going from the R to the M and back (Normal). Any ideas on what the problem might be ? Thanks Rick
