alternator bracket on 383 in 3rd gen camaro (Page 1/1)

On my 85 z28 camaro i put in my 383 stroker I have double hump heads and they don’t have the holes for the accessories and I am running a tunnel ram intake and it don’t have the hole on top for the alternator bracket. I got a lower mount alternator bracket from a car show couple of years ago and its for a short style water pump so after getting a short style and pulleys, put it all on and put the motor back in, noticed that the bracket is going to hit the steering when I turn right so now only left hand turns. (not racing NASCAR now)
The only brackets I found on jegs are the kind for an electric water pump. Tho I would love to have an electric water pump I just don’t have the $710 they are asking to spend on one.
is there any other options

Take your heads down to your machine shop. They can drill and tap the holes for your old upper mount bracket. I had some camel humps that I did that to. All it will really cost is the replacement gaskets, time and what the shop charges you. call them and they should give you their price.
