2013 Accord coupe V6 6speed I saw from Motor Trend they run 13.9 at 101, 0 to 60 is 5.4. I looked up 65 Chevelle SS 396 375 HP 0 to 60 is 6.0 and 14.66 at 100 and as I remember these were a solid lifter 11 to 1 compression pretty radical engine and not many were made so this is a good representative of one of the faster muscle cars. To be fair with the poor tires of the day I'm sure these cars were burning rubber into infinity. The accord 278 HP at 6200 VTEC switches at 4900 252 ft. Lbs. 3367 lbs. 18/28 mpg. 2013 is the 9th generation Accord. Accord Coupe replaced Prelude.

.... I highly doubt an Accord could keep up with a Prelude in anything other than a straight line. Not bad for a solid but otherwise boring car (the Accord).

The V6 Accord does put down some impressive times. However, be careful magazine racing it against a classic muscle car. With equal traction that Chevelle would be wicked quick.
Also, there is still something more satisfying about rocketing off from a stop in RWD vs FWD. No need to manage power/throttle to maintain traction, or watch the traction control light yell at your!
As far as how the Accord compares to a Prelude... again be careful of magazine racing. The Prelude on a track would exude confidence in the turns. With enough tire, and suspension tuning, the Accord may be able to keep up... but it's certainly not going to have the precision feel through the controls to inspire confidence like a Prelude does, to push it deeper and harder into turns.

Cars today are just getting quicker in general....
I never thought much of the cobalts till the guy I bought it from took me for a test drive i was blown away that a 4 cylinder could pull like that, as he took me up to 130 mph. I know stock they are said to run 13.8 and tunes today unlock lots of potential. Just the tune on the cobalt knocked me down to 13.3 and it handles like crazy.
technology and power to weight is sometimes a good thing.

3800 SC/IC Formula whines more than your girl... 08 Cobalt SS TC - ZZP tuned, K&N SRI, 6k HID's 13.31@107 07 HHR - Wifes (tried to have her get the SS)

X2. When 'magazine racing', its better to look at the cars MPH and not E/T. ::PERFECT EXAMPLE TIME::
Years ago, Id gotten my buick and had just started modding it. I ran a 14.4@101MPH on 8 year old street tires. This kid in an eclipse was all sortsa geeked cause he went 14.2@102MPH and KNEW in his heart and mind he could beat me. I put M/T drag radials on my car and we went to the track. I went 13.7@102MPH to his 14.2@102 (picked up a MPH somewhere, mustve been a tailwind or sumthin...) He counted it as a loss, I counted it as a draw. If he'd had RWD/AWD and the same level of traction I did we'd have been neck n neck.
MPH shows the power being made. So if the chevelle had something like a M/T drag radial from today and not goodyear polyglass tires from back then, itd be a different tale for the 0-60 and E/T on the Chevelle. 396 would be a good comparission, but there were WAAAY bigger fish in the musclecar sea... GM could always call upon a 454 in the Chevelle and the numbers would change respectively.
Agreed with the Accord VS Prelude part as well. I've driven several preludes - modded and not. They are a blast to drive either way. I've also driven a couple different Accords - modded and not. Not the same ballpark, not even the same sport... Preludes are a blast to drive (and if you havent, throw it on the bucket list ) Accords have always been more of a 'Im 50 but still cool' car.
