'08 Torrent GXP oil pressure (Page 1/1) Fosgatecavy98 APR 20, 07:48 PM So 4/2 I bought a Pontiac Torrent GXP fwd. Has 86k on it. Yesterday I'm under slight acceleration, and the low oil pressure warning blinks across the DIC and I pull over and check the oil and its fine, no funky engine noises either. Today I'm coasting off of acceleration and it comes back on, no engine noises at all. Anyways, I *hope* its just the pressure switch, but I'm worried. Does anyone know what kind of oil pressure the LY7 should have? Not happy right now, this is also my work vehicle, as much as I wish it could, my fiero can't fill the shoes of what my new vehicle is suppose to be doing :-/ craigsfiero2007 APR 20, 09:02 PM The LY7 has a problem burning oil. If the oil is down slightly it will cause a loss in power or misfire and the low oil pressure light will come on. Check the oil when its cold and been sitting for a couple of hours. The LY7 requires oil pressure for the chain tensioners. I had an Equinox with the 3.4, I traded it the first chance I got.
