Jeep Cherokee, clutch slowly starts to grab when depressed. (Page 1/1)

I have a 1995 Cherokee with 5 speed manual. When I keep the clutch pressed in for awhile (5-10 seconds), it will start to grab. If I let go of the clutch and press it back in, its fine. Its really weird. There is no loss of fluid. Do you guys think its the master or slave cylinder?

Yup, one of them is bad. Probably slave but you may want to change both.

Had the same thing on my 98 Camaro. Internal leak in the slave cylinder for me.

Too bad it wasn't a 97. In 98 they had switched to the internal slave (ring around the transmission input shaft). It turned what would have been a ~45 minute job into a 3-5 hour job.

It will be hard to tell which one is at fault, so replacing both is likely in order unless it is cost prohibitive to do that.

Well I didn't want to replace both, but I guess they both have 178k on them so I probably should.
