1992 Cadillac STS. Powered by a '01 Supercharged 3800. (Page 1/1)

Took this car in on a trade deal. Car I traded it for was a 87 Trans Am. (I recently bought a 85 Fiero with a SC3800 so the TA took a back seat)
Anyway the STS was swapped in well. The ECM communicates with the dash like it should. Even reads current oil life and a digital readout of the coolant temp.
I'll post pictures of it soon. Body and Interior need work. I'm most likely going to drive around as is until I get a good cash or trade offer.
Oh yeah the 3800 has had some mods done to it. Underdrive pulley obvious. The previous owner wasn't the builder. He drove it for 6 months before trading to me. He has a late 90s grand prix and told me even with the weight differance the Cadillac was much faster. He was told the engine was modified but didn't know what all was done. I've only been able to tinker with it once since trading. It certainly has a some good acceleration but I'm used to a SC3800 pushing around a fraction of a car in my fiero. LOL.
Fiero had a caliper lock up in the rear and actually caught fire! Fortunately I had a bottle of water to put it out but now I've got a mess to repair. Putting the Cadillac aside for now. Once again.

The thing find odd about this swap is how many times guys are putting the V8 that came stock in the STS into the Pontiac Fieros and now a Pontiac engine has been swapped into the Cadillac. Albeit not a stock Fiero engine but rather a GTP engine. Never drove a STS with the 4.8 so not sure what was gained/lost in the power band with the switch. I like the look of the SC 3800 anyways.

I post updates as time permits.

I would really love to see pictures of that. I've been thinking of doing a swap like that, or use the LS from a Impala or Monte Carlo into a STS.

The only reason to swap an engine in an STS is if it was a 4.9 and it was blown up.

If its a 94 or later it will have the 300 hp N* drivetrain and its a wonderful system. Cadillac pulled all the stops when designing and building the 94 - 97's, still one of the best cars ever made.

As for an LS in an STS?, what a downgrade.......and a huge PITA.
