Anyone here mechanically knowledgable regarding C5 Corvettes? (Page 1/1)

Recently I saw a vendor advertising both new and used headlight modules, the same ones used for the second generation headlights on the Fiero. I have been considering buying one of these to have as a spare in case I should need one in the future. The vendor I was checking claimed that the modules are no longer available from GM. I know that these were used on cars other than the Fiero, so I had to check this out for myself.

I did a search on one of the online GM part catalogs, and found the module part number listed for several years of the C5 Corvette. But for each year listed, the part number was shown twice, once for right side of car, and once for left side of car. That struck me as odd, so I am wondering if anyone knows if the C5 Corvettes do in fact use two separate headlight modules to control the headlight lift motors?

I specialized in Corvettes for years, but pretty much had stopped by the C5s. I cant say for sure about them, but I know C4s had a separate part for right and left. Its quite possible C5s might use the same one on both sides. Id say call the parts dept of your nearest Chevy dealer and ask. I cant believe they have discontinued them though. I can still buy any part for any year Corvette. 53-55 body parts are the only hard to find things I know of. Ecklers and Mid America carry enough parts to build a complete car from end to end.

I have a 3+4 trans out of a 86 vette and i heard their going to discontinue a few of the parts for that setup. Found out last year the Trans wont shift from 1+1 or 2+2 or 3+3 with out a dash module plugged up to the harness.

It just so happens that I have a C5 Vette headlight controller in my Fiero. It controls both headlight motors, and is a direct plug-in (in the '87-88 Fiero). As for how it functions in the Vette, I'm not sure. But it would seem odd to have it control only one side when it's capable of controlling both.
