iI understand the LS4 has a shorter crank stub, and DOD valley cover but are there any other differances as far as interchangable parts. My real question is if you can swap LS1,LS2, or LS6 parts (intake, DOD cover, lifters, DOD sensors) to turn a LS4 into a LSX sieries motor so you could use a stand alone wire harness, and not have to mess with all the DOD crap.

The LS4 has LS6 heads on it. So you can use the LS2 or LS6 intake on the LS4 engine. The DoD can be removed entirely. LS7 Lifters are used to replace the LS4 Lifters. Then you will need a aftermarket cam or LS6 Cam.

The DOD can be tuned out via HP tuners or other tuning software.
