That one of the 4-cylinder ones?
I had a 400 / 2 cylidner. It was fun, especially above 10krpm!

No its a 500 twin as well. I agree they are fun as poop above 10 grand. For being 37 years old that thing will scream like a banshee! Right now I am going over what all I did five years ago when I parked it. I got a float for the carb, oil filter ordered, fork seals ordered exhaust parts bought tonight (custom) and just parts to fix what a seventeen year old kid does just to have a loud toy lol.it was poop brown when I got it, didn't run and no exhaust, 350 bucks 5,888 miles to date.

I used to own one of them back in the 80s. Had a spectacular crash on it.

I know what you mean man. Before I parked it I was in bad humor riding on a winding fresh gravel road doing 70+ and on a downhill stretch mid curve the back end started to skip out on me. Luckily I got it back up and slowed down or else I would have had a very bad day lol. I have no idea how long it would have been until somebody found me that far out in BFE on posted/gated land.

There is one for sale near me, with 8000 miles on it, very nice, and he said 650 bucks. I passed because I have enough projects and parts are getting to be a problem for the xs500. Always liked those bikes, I believe it was the 1st engine with 4 valve heads on a production bike, but I could be wrong.

If you check it out find out for sure what oil filter is on it since the oem is discontinued. Start it up also and check voltage since regulators are an issue. other than that they aren't bad. I got mine cheap not running, it took no time to get it fixed up though. Check out mikesxs.com they have a lot of parts for them. If I had another I would make a cafe racer for sure lol I just can't bring myself to cut mine up though.
