OK I have this 2000 Sunfire GT convertible and I would like to lower it. I only want to drop it at most 1.5 inches all the way around. I have checked on http://www.j-body.org/index.php but due to the age of the average person on that forum and I overly trust the advice of the Fiero community here is my question. The struts on this car have been replaced recently, and are factory height. Since I only want to drop this car 1.5 inches at most can I just replace the springs with something like this and leave my current struts? Any help would be rewarded with a + Thanks[This message has been edited by ohioindy (edited 09-10-2013).]

Well, I am with you. I would believe you can replace just the springs and get the lowering effect you want. The only issue you may run into is that the strut may bottom out, but the spring should be manufactured to stop that from happening. Really, this is no different than a Fiero and you can put lowering springs on that the same way.
Do you have enough play in the strut/knuckle connection to set the alignment? If not, you may have to increase the opening of the holes on the strut to allow for more angle. I know when I did my Aztek struts, there was no play, but on the Fiero, there was.
The rear is a solid beam type, correct? There shouldn't be an issue there.
What are the forums saying?
Oh, I would verify that the springs are not loose, when you install them. The spring should still be compressed when you install them on the strut. This will keep them from bouncing out of place when you launch the car in the air (same for the rear...)[This message has been edited by jaskispyder (edited 09-10-2013).]

You'll be fine at the 1.5" level. Stock struts will be happy. No need for any other modifications. Alignment's are cheap and always a smart idea. Go for it!
