Mid engine 2 seater I didn't know existed (Page 1/2)

Went to this car show today: http://www.torontotriumph.com/BCD/

and found a Fiero (or Mr2) wannabe: http://www.wedgeparts.com/mgfca.html

The engine looked similar to a Toyota Mr2 DOHC engine, but it's Rover powered.

Looks like a fun car!

They drive pretty good but the earlier ones are plagued with suspension problems due to the Hydrolastic suspension. Easy enough to fix but annoying. They drive nice though and the aftermarket for them is huge. You can buy so much stuff for them on ebay.co.uk

The update models look nice and also have a 6 speed tiptronic option with paddle shift. There was also the trophy model in the later series. The later ones also have a 1.8 litre engine instead of the 1.6 I think the later model also switched to conventional coil / strut suspension as well.

MG TF Trophy Model.

Back when I had MGB in the 90's, I remember these cars being produced in the UK. It was the last gasp for MG.

I saw one several years back when I went to Grand Cayman. I took a picture of it as we drove by and posted here to see if anyone knew what it was.

I am here in the U.K. And have thought about buying one of these MG's. The bad part is, as mentioned above, the suspension on the older ones is expensive to fix. I still think I want to try one on for size.

I just read your title again. I'm pretty sure they weren't mid-engine cars.

I believe they are, just similar to a Porsche 911.

You can see vents in the rear deck lid here.

And there is no engine up front.

So it is either mid engine, or rear engine. I doubt it's rear as you can't really see any of the engine here and the trunk looks rather deep for rear engine.

I think it is mid engine along the lines of the Porsche 911 as I said.

Definately are mid engined. The engines are hard to work on too.

Well, if seeing isn't believing, maybe this will help:
