Are Chevy Impalas a nice car? Is the 3.5 v6 a good motor too? (Page 1/1)

HI all

Just from eyeballing the car in person with the front hood up, the car is in immaculate condition as far as cleanliness goes. I just don't know any thing else. It has 10 k miles and that is NOT a typo for an 07. This car Dealer does Autocheck and not carfax. is auto check a reputable source?

Basically looking for any problems or issues this car may have in the future, if any at all.

Thanx for any help.

A friend has one. Nice car overall, but the interior is old person bland (and that coming from someone who is 42 with 4 kids). I personally wouldn't reject owning one but I wouldn't go out of my way to get one either. In contrast, out 2000 Bonneville with the 3800NA had a much sportier feel to the interior and even the exterior while still being a big family car. I loved that car but my wife wanted something smaller so we traded it in on a 02 Mazda Protege5. The only thing I didn't like about the Bonneville, and you'd have the same problem with the Impala, is that the stereo system was integrated with the computer. If you wish to keep all your warning busser sounds (over heating buzzer, low oil buzzer, headlights left on chime, door ajar chime and such) you have to buy a special adapter that costs in the $50-$120 range (depending on if you get it at the stereo shop or buy in online somewhere) to integrate your aftermarket unit with the computer so it can still use the stereo's speakers for all the chimes and such.

We've got a Malibu Maxx with that engine and it's been a good car. On the bland side as others have said.

I have a 2012 and I love it for all of the reasons people hate it. It's a spongy handling hiway cruiser with good power and spacious interior. I think the bland interior is what makes it feel more open. I'm tired of the wrap around style cramped interiors.

The intakes tend to seep oil from the RTV/silicone in the valley, the wheel bearings go for absolutely no reason, transmission cooler lines leak, EVAP vent valves and gas caps leak eventually, the rear defoggers will stop working due do a melted pin in the large body to instrument cluster connector under the passenger side door molding. The key fobs can tend to be junk after you drop them allot ...

Overall not a bad car if you were to ask me. None of those things are difficult to fix, and if it has 10K miles, you should still have powertrain coverage, which means wheel bearings, intakes, axle seals should all be covered. It will be a good car, enjoy it!

Oh and another big one, the traction and engine light both come on with (reduced power) message on the DIC - no big deal either, the APP accelerator pedal sensor goes bad all the time too.
