Or "where is the switch" is maybe my question.
There is a plug near the brake booster but that plug has 12v all the time. It plugs into a wire that goes to the light bulb, the bulb turns on when the hood is slightly opened, and off when it is almost closed. I do not see a push type pin switch anywhere like doors have (that the hood would physically push down). What is the actual switch?

It's probably a mercury or ball bearing type switch in the light assembly itself. That's how the older trucks were, I have no reason to believe the newer ones are different.

Thanks. Interesting, I wonder if one parked on a steep hill , if the light could come on and could kill a battery.

I just leave it unplugged on my '97 S10. It is really not bright enough to to much anyway

I like the GM trucks that mount an underhood lite by the jack in the rt fenderwell. Its self contained and has about a 15 foot cord w/ winder on it and wired into the harness with its own switch. I try to grab one every once in a while at a junkyard...very handy.

What turns on the light? High heels and purple lipstick.
