Alarm/Remote Start Gurus, Volvo S60R (Page 1/2)
Jncomutt DEC 23, 07:20 AM
I'm trying to get a remote start installed in out 2007 volvo s60r. I talked to a few shops in the area and none of them made me feel very confident. A few of them wouldn't even do it, and others sounded like it would be an experiment.

Having installed Remote Start systems in Pontiacs, and made plenty of engine harnesses, etc, I figured I'd give it a shot. I purchased a Compustar 6000as, and Pro901-SS Remote. I also have the Ezgo, but I figure that's plug and play.

What is the major headache when doing these? Does it have to do with Can communication or the immobilizer? I think I need to get a spare Volvo immobilizer antenna and store a spare switchblade key in the column. Also, it seems like I have to make the door look connection at the module in the driver door. I'm still unsure about the trunk. I think I can tap into lights as normal and I don't plan to use the horn.

Can anyone help me out with the hassles that come along with a volvo before I dive in?

the immobilizer and canbus can both be solved with xpress kit, I always used. Dei when I owned my shop and with the can bus module the whole system on some cars can be install with as little as 4-5 connections. I am on my phone now but I can get you whatever wiring info you may need when I get off work and get to my home pc..

Jb1, thanks for the help so far. I will have to look into that xpress kit and see if it will help for what I need.

http://www.xpresskit.com/Ve...del=S60&ps=1&s=0&c=0 here would be the one you need, it allows you to bypass the transponder without loosing a key, If you have any problems or questions I will be glad to help you anyway I can. Not real familiar with the compustar kits but will help best I can, It should not be a hard car to to do.. The DLPK will cover door locks factory alarm ,transponder and trunk release.

I think I'll pick up that xpresskit for the doors/trunk. I don't think I can do the transponder for this particular volvo, however.

I am not sure why it would not work for the transponder but I have no idea what the difference between the s60 and s60R is..

I don't know that there is a difference between the S60 and S60R with regards to immobilizer. I just can't find any info that states I wouldn't need a key stored in the column, and I'm not positive that the giant volvo "switchblade" key will fit in the box.

I'm almost at the point of starting this but I realized the "brain" I was sent is different than what I ordered. I ordered FT-6000AS-CONT but what I received was a FT-6200S-CONT. I'll be calling today to try to get this sorted out.

you only need to use your key to program the DLPK, it will replicate the transponder signal. the 556uw is the universal box you have to put a key in..

Ahh. I didn't see that about the DLPK. I'll post a link to the DLPK before I order it to be sure I'm ordering all the stuff I need to go with it.

Thanks again for all the help.
